The "Bosco Verticale" project, is a pair of residential towers in the Porta Nuova district of Milan.
They have a height of 111 metres (364 ft) and 76 metres (249 ft) and contain appprox 1000 trees.
Peculiarities of these constructions, both inaugurated in 2014, is the presence of more than two thousand arboreal essences, among shrubs and tall trees, distributed on the elevations. This is an ambitious project of metropolitan reforestation which, through the vertical densification of the green, aims to increase the plant and animal biodiversity of the Lombard capital, reducing its urban expansion and also contributing to the mitigation of the microclimate.
As proof of its architectural recognition, Bosco Verticale was the winner of numerous competitions: in addition to the International Highrise Award, which was awarded in 2014, in 2015 the Vertical Forest won the award as "the most beautiful and innovative skyscraper in the world ", according to a classification by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
In this kind of application, Luxsolar has to find the way to make the building respect the rule, ICAO Annex 14, and in the same time, to not light inside the apartments. For this reaosn the beaocns here installed are not 360° light emission but has the internal side OFF to avoid the light pollution.
